Team Colin Pitty
Story
We are marching for Colin/Dad/GD for his courage, his love, and the life that melanoma took far too soon.
Colin was diagnosed with Stage IV melanoma in May of last year. What followed was an 85-day battle that he fought with extraordinary strength, surrounded by family every single step of the way. His journey was marked by constant setbacks, relentless infections, and unimaginable challenges. He was too unwell to receive full treatment, aside from the removal of a tumour in his cerebellum, yet he never stopped fighting. Even in the hardest moments, Colin taught us how to treasure the good days. He held onto hope, laughter, and love, and we held onto him. Our family stood together. This march is not only for Colin, but for those who come after him. Colin was moved to palliative care on the 25th July, a heartbreaking reminder of how cruel and unfair this disease can be. Six days later, on the 31st of July at 6:25pm he passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family who loved him beyond words.
We miss him more than we can ever express. There isn’t a day we wouldn’t do anything to have him back with us. We march in his honour, in his memory, and in the hope that through awareness, research, and action, fewer families will have to say goodbye too soon. 🖤
